Who Am I?
My name is Stephany Cataldo. I’m a costume designer assistant based in London, UK. I have also worked in Madrid, Toronto and New York. My highest aspiration is to become a Costume Designer for big film productions.
I grew up in Madrid and since I was a little girl I always enjoyed watching films. My other passion was imagining how I would have dressed the characters in those films or TV series I used to watch. It was not until I turned twenty-three years old, when I realized that designing costumes and bringing stories to life was meant for me.
I’m usually inspired by period films like “Emma” (2020), “Jane Eyre” (1996), or by musical films and musicals such as Moulin Rouge (2001), and West Side Story (both versions). I'm passionate about cabaret costumes, period costumes (1800´s-1900´s) and 50’s fashion.
In order to complete my portfolio of skills; in 2024 I travelled to New York where I studied an intensive course in Fashion Design. Now, in 2025, I completed my MA in Costume Design in London at the UAL. I also count with curatorial skills, jewellery making skills and stylist skills. I’m always eager to learn more about costume design and garment construction.

Since 2023 that I visited North America for the fisrt time, I expanded my knowledge in garment sewing and construction, as well as in patternmaking. At the beginning of 2024 I studied Fashion Design, completed the course and got my certificate with the NYSD. I participated in different costume projects while I was in NYC. Nowadays, I find myself studying a MA in Costume Design in London at UAL, improving my illustration skills and getting into knowing the costume world in various ways.
I moved to London in 2018 to finally realized that I wanted to create a path in costume design. I learned and improved my sewing skills at different academies. My passion for this matter was clear, so I took small courses in costume for film and TV. I worked as a costume designer for the first time on a short film.
During this period of my life I dedicated my time to learning about jewelry design and jewelry making. I took several courses in Madrid, and I started my first business on Etsy. I also gained experience in the fashion industry as a visual merchandiser assistant and personal shopper.
